Fender Blender - Clone

Iphone camera's makes everything ugly.
This is part 3 of “recycling enclosures.” It used to be a Box of Rock, now it’s a Fender Blender. The reviews of this pedal call it: “the fuzz pedal with Indie-cred,” so, like the crappy teenage hipster I am, I needed one.
It’s an octave up fuzz with an extra switch that kind of boosts your signal and turns the tone knob to zero. It’s weird and great.
It’s like a box full of “The Jesus And Mary Chain” fuzzy guitar sounds (even though they used a Shin Ei FuzzWah, but didn’t use the wah part of the pedal, only the fuzz....so did they use a Companion Fuzz? The schematics says no, there are more components in the fuzz segment of the FuzzWah than in a Companion. The schematic of the fuzz segment has many similarities with the Fender Blender, but the guitarnerds forums says that the Fender Blender is a bad sound pedal, then you read that they are talking about the reissue Fender did with the Blender a couple of years ago. After reading many comments on the forums you come to a conclusion that you need the original fender blender, who’s worth a fortune....so you build your own Fender Blender and ignore the forums or anyone’s opinion)

Ross/Rozz Overdrive - Repair

I replaced the jacks and the battery snap of this Ross or Rozz (maybe Ross thought in their teenage years that 2 z’s would sounds cool) overdrive from Marijn. The original jacks became, after all those years of using, feeble and noisy. But I was able to fix it with some new jacks.

ABY Switcher

Made a battery powered ABY switcher for Rudy Berezin from, my favorite band at the moment, Häxxan

Old Soviet/Russian Synth - Mod

Changing a Din plug to a 6,3mm jack. This is an old soviet synth from the late 80s from Yannick. The synth has an unusual wiring, the ground is exactly the same, but the 2 output wires needed to be switched (it’s stereo).
Also, the synth looks amazing from the inside.

Uni-Vox Compressor - Mod/Repair

Let’s make vintage pedals useful again.
This is a Uni-Vox compressor from Yannick Tinbergen.
The pedal has a really boorish design: pots on the side, no LED and it works only on battery.
I’ve replaced the pots and put them on the top of the pedal (there in the middle because the input/output are in the back). Replaced the spdt footswitch with a 3pdt, added a Led on top and an adapter input on the side.
It’s fun to see the old circuit board from this pedal, the traces look like it’s glued on.

Ross Compressor - Clone

Another ‘’enclosure recycling’’, first this was a Sepukku Space Fuzz, now it’s a Ross compressor.
Before this one, I’ve used 2 other compressors, a Dynacomp and a Boss cs-3. I didn’t like the Boss compressor at all, I liked the Dynacomp but it was too harsh. I did some research and found out that the Ross compressor sounds the same, but is less harsh.

Big Muff footswitch replacement - Repair

Replaced a footswitch from a Big muff for Yannick, same story as the EHX Micro Pog, but this time the components on the board were bigger, so it was a quick fix.

Emma Reezafratzitz - Clone

Made an Emma Reezafratzitz for Ivy van der Veer. This pedal is a 6 pot distortion, even though you can count 7 pots. With the pots you can dial the level, bias, gain, tone, bass and mid.
The 7th pot is decoration. Before it was decoration, it was a blend knob. We’ve wanted to have a blend function on the pedal, but it didn’t work in combination with the Emma. Originally the Emma Reezafratzitz has a buffer bypass, but you can wire it as a true bypass pedal. If you want a blend on a pedal, you need a true bypass pedal. Firstly, I made the Emma true bypass, but it was beeping, noisy and it oscillated quickly. When I wired it like the original it was (almost) quiet, so we decided we didn’t need a blend.
Ivy wanted a sloppy, dirty etch on the pedal, so I didn’t need to sandpaper the enclosure after etching.

Devi Ever Shoegazer - Clone

I didn't use the Supersonic fuzzgun clone at all, so I chose to recycle the enclosure and put a Devi Ever Shoegazer in it.
I built the circuit 4 months ago, but it didn't work. It took 4 passive months to search for the solution, and the solution was a simple diode.
Originally, the Shoegazer consisted of a Soda Meiser and a Torn's Peaker, I didn't like the Torn's Peaker so I used an Hyperion. Both fuzzes are easy to make and they are loud gainmonsters.

Teisco Guitar - Mod/Repair

First time modding/repairing someone else’s guitar. This is an old Japanese Teisco guitar from Merlijn Breedland, he got it for free from a friendly stranger.
When Merlijn got this guitar, it was totally junk. He put some fresh strings on it and adjusted the neck.
We went crazy with this guitar, we threw the tone and volume pots away, because ''he didn't need it''. The problem with most Teisco guitars, they have a small output, that doesn’t really work well onstage, so we put an active booster in it. I chose for the EHX LPB-1 because it gives more output and it’s very small so it would fit in the guitar.
With the switch on the guitar, you can activate (and deactivate) the booster, so the battery doesn’t drain too quickly.
I also repositioned the input. Merlijn suffers from the disability of being left-handed, so I placed the input somewhere else without drilling, so the input/guitarcable doesn't come in the way.
